Sciences Humaines: Chapter 5 test on Wedneday!!!! Make sure you review any handouts given/study guide. Review class tomorrow!

Francais: Students are currently working on their radio ads with a partner. Presentations will take place next day. Quiz marks will be posted soon.

Math: students worked on an inclass portfolio piece.

April 10 Math: Students are working  on a sheet that is to be done in class for today and tomorrow.

March 22 Francais: Students presented their phone conversations today based on the characters from our novel. Students will be graded on these and marks will be updated shortly.
March 20 Science: Test on Chapters 10, 11, 12 wil take place next Wednesday, Day 6.

Francais: Journal entry for our novel 'Le Piege de l'Ombre' marks are now posted.

March 4

Francais: We have started reading our novel 'Le Piege de l'Ombre'. Students have been given novel studies folders. These will be left in class throughout the unit. It is important to check this site if you are absent to see what chapters you have missed/work was completed.

Sciences Humaines: Chapter 4 test, Wednesday, March 6th. Study guides/notes were handed out last week.

Feb 28 Students are to finish the worksheets they worked on in class today on the short story in their text books titled "The Zarg Tyranny".    Due to be completed for Monday, March 4.  The test for Tech Then and Now unit will be written on Tuesday, March 12.   Students should study focus page 58 on Questioning techniques.
Feb 25

Math: Students have been given about 5 puzzle sheets over the past week. They are responsible to have at least 4 problems from each side worked out in their notebooks and by now to have all of those sheets completed. Assignment coming soon.

 

Language Arts: Students will be finishing up their descriptive essays in class on Tuesday and peer editing.

 

FEB 20

Francais: We are ready to start a new novel study- Le piege de l'ombre. Make sure you bring a folder so you can keep all handouts organized.

Sciences Humaines: Make sure your Confederation posters are handed in. Marks posted soon. We are now working on writing a newspaper articles based on "les crises des annees 1890". TEST coming soon.....

 

Feb 13

Francais: Students should be ready to submit their comic strip on a significant Canadien. Listening evaluation tomorrow!

Sciences Humaines: Students should have their confederation posters completed and handed in.

Feb 11

Francais: All reports have been handed in. Marks are now up on Powerschool. Anyone now missing this assignment will have to complete it during a Thursday studyhall. We will be continuing the comic strip assignment tomorrow in class. Make sure you have approrpiate information of the Canadian you chose.

-This group will be doing their individual presentations on Their Favorite Toy/Game. They were given two hours to do research and an additional hour to prepare their notes. The presentaions will start on Tuesday. Students should bring in the toy/game if at all possible. This will be a grade for their Listening Component.

Feb. 6

Complete the 8 questions on the selection "Can Machines Learn?"  in the text book, page 81.  These are to be completed in the notebook.

Science: Test on Chapter 9 next Thursday.

 

Feb. 5

Math: Continued with review of ch. 2.

Mid-year evaluations are on Thursday. and then on Friday if needed.

 

Feb. 4

Francais: Students finished their reportage (final copy) today in class. This is now due and if you have not completed this study hall on Thursday is the only chance to get this done. Reading evaluation (report/questions) will take place Wed, Feb 6th.

 

Math: Today we reviewed chapter 1.

Mid-year evaluations are on Thursday. and then on Friday if needed.

Jan 28

Francais: Students are taking their researched information about a group of immigrants to Canada and writing a brief report. If you missed one of the two library classes for research, you are expected to finish this at home. Time in class will be provided for first/final copies.

Sciences Humaines: Ch 4 workbooks have been given out. Make sure you have them for each class.

Jan 23 Math: Today we started  with surface area of a cylinder. No problems assigned. Mid-year evaluations in 2 weeks! Test next Friday! Assignment soon!
Jan 22 Math: page 192 #'s 8(a)9,10,17.  Assignment this Friday or Monday. Test next week.

Math: Page 192 #'s 9,10 surface area and volume. There will be an assignment this friday or next Monday. Test willl be late next week.

The midterm will follow a day or two later. Students have been given a review package to go along with their old tests and assignments. As their will be no time to review fot the midterm exam they should begin studying now. I will allow for 5-10 minutes of questions at the start of each class.

JAN 18

Sciences Humaines: Chapter 3 test is Monday, Jan 21st. Don't forget to study your handouts as well as review anything important in your text.

Francais: We are continuing reading different reports on immigrants to Canada. Students will begin a research assignment next week on a group of their choice.

Jan 16

Math: We are one third in on this unit. There will be an assignment late next week. When the unit is tested the midterm will follow a day or two later. Students have been given a review package to go along with their old tests and assignments. As their will be no time to review fot the midterm exam they should begin studying now. I will allow for 5-10 minutes of questions at the start of each class.

Science: Test on Chapters 7 and 8 next Wednesday. A tutorial is also being offered tomorrow (Thursday) 3:30-4:30.

Sciences Humaines: Chapter 3 project marks are now on PowerSchool. There will be a test Monday, Jan 21st. Make sure you review over the powerpoint notes that were completed/handed out in class. Review class took place today.

Francais: We are now beginning the unit 'Un Nouveau Depart'. Make sure you have your folder/text book A/binder with you for each class.

Language Arts: Test on the Outsiders , Monday, Jan 14.. (Students should study their notes and novel workbooks)   Note Date Change!

Jan 8

Francais: We are now beginning a new unit called "Un Nouveau Depart". Students presented their suitcases "5 important things that would take if moving" to the class today. Make sure you have a folder/binder for all unit handouts as well as your textbook for each class.

Sciences Humaines: We are finishing chapter 3 "La chasse au phoque" in class. Make sure you have your texts and binders with you for each class. It is important to keep all class handouts organized.

Dec  14th

Language Arts: Test on the Outsiders , Thursday, Jan 10. (Students should study their notes and novel workbooks)

Francais: First copies of stories should definitely be completed by Monday. This is your chance to get your work reviewed and correct the mistakes. Don't forget to print off any images you may like for the final copy. Presentations will take place on Wednesday!

Sciences Humaines: Chapter 3 projects will be presented on Tuesday.

Francais: Today we read an example of a short Christmas story. We planned our story and will begin writing the first copy.

Sciences Humaines: Chapter 3 projects will be presented Tuesday, Dec 18th. Make sure you have your presentation prepared.

Math: page 151-152 #'s 3,4,8,9,10   Test is Friday

Dec 7

Francais: Test, Monday Dec 10th on the novel Bonne Annee Grand Nez. We will begin our final assignment (Christmas short story) next week. Students will be presenting these to the class.

Sciences Humaines: Chapter 3 projects are going very well in class. Don't forget that next week we will begin preparing for the presentation.

Dec 6

Francais: We have finished our novel reading today in class and discussed the ending. There will be a test on Monday, Dec 9th.  We will also begin a short story assignment this week.

Science: A re-test is being offered next Thursday after school for students who did not perform very well on their most recent test.

Math: Do page 132 #3(c,d); page 133 #8(a) and page 139 #5

Math: Page 125 #10 (b,d) and #11 (b,d) and one side of worksheet.

Sciences Humaines: Students are currently working on their Chapter 3 final project. Your project should represent how Newfoundlanders made a living in the 19th century. These will eventually be presented to the class and you will receive an oral communication mark for French Language Arts.  Make sure you bring in any materials (paints, glue, ect..) that you need.

Francais: We are still reading Bonne Annee Grand Nez in class. Chapter 1-8 quiz on Wednesday. Students will soon begin writing a short story as a final evaluation for this.

Language Arts:  Students are reading independent novels. The poster assignment will be started in class the week od Dec 10 and it is due to be passed in the week of Dec 17. This is novel study #2 (indpendent reading).

We are currently working on The Outsiders in class and students should be keeping up with the Chapter work and Mid novel assignment as the time is provided in class for this work.

 

Math: page 109 #16(3 parts using a different stratefgy for each), page 113 #8(c) and 10.

Nov 27

Francais: We have read to Chapter 8 in class. Make sure to keep up with the questions in your folders. Some are not finishing them for homewoork after having the period to finish in class.

Note: Make sure you have all your materials in class. (Text book, folders, pencils).

Francais: Students completed a journal entry today taking the point of view of Charles (main character) You were expected to use examples of the passe compose. We have been reviewing this tense in class.

Sciences Humaines: Today we did a quick review of the chapter as to date and corrected together the questions on the three branches of the cod fishery. You can have a copy of the slides if you wish.

Nov. 20 Science: Test on Chapters 2 and 3 on Friday! Extra tutorial Thursday after school (3:30-4:30).
Nov 19 Math: Students got their assignments back today. There will be review tomorrow and the test is Wednesday.
Nov 15 Math: Assignment tomorrow with a test soon to follow.

Francais: Students presented their radio ads for the class today on ways to stand up against bullying. We started the novel 'Bonne Annee Grand Nez' last week in class. Novel study folders have been distribted. Final project marks (speaking and writing) are now posted on Powerschool.

Sciences Humaines: We have started Chapter 3: Gagner sa vie dans le 19ieme siecle. Keep an eye out for upcoming assignments.

 

Math: Today students completed a sheet on numberline and bank model division. There will be an assignment next week soon followed by the chapter test.

NOV 1ST Tech- today we completed assignment five in class. Those who missed class today, please complete at home. Its found under production technology- topic two under our website
October 24 Math: Do page 68 #'s 5,6,7,8.
October 22

Language Arts: Students are currently working on an Expository Essay on the theme of Remembrance. This is to be completed in class. Book Reports on Novel #1 due Monday, Oct 29.

Francais: Students are currently working on their final project (Research of a remarkable person) in the library.  Unit test, Tuesday, September 23rd.

Sciences Humaines: Chapitre 2 test, Monday, October 29th. Students have their study guides along with their workbook, notes, etc. We will review tomorrow.

October 18 Math: TEST TOMORROW! Remember: We STUDY Math by DOING Math!
October 17 Math: Today we reviewed the first half of the chapter. A handout of questions was given for extra practice. I will be available after school tomorrow for extra help. Remember: Test on Friday.
October 16 Math: We went over the assignment today. Students worked on chapter review. Test is scheduled for Friday.
October 15

Francais: Students must submit their workbooks along with the final copy of their Rintintin obituary tomorrow. We will begin our final project (research project on a significant person) tomorrow in the library.

Math: Test is scheduled for late this week. I'll know better by tomorrow. Students had to do some review work in their textbook. I said to go to page 56 and start at #21 for now. Doing all of these questions in the unit over the next few days would be an excellent review.

October 11

Francais: Students completed another listening activity yesterday in class on the remarkable Rintintin. Today we will do a quick review of the past tense (passe compose) and students will begin a mini writing assignment (obituary for Rintintin). These will be completed in class and evaluated. Unit test scheduled for Tuesday, October 23rd.  

Sciences Humaines: Students should have questions on Les Mikmaq, Les Innus, Les Inuits completed in their workbooks.

 

Oct 9 Math: In-class Assignment tomorrow. Bring notes and textbook.
Oct 4

Francais: Students are currently working on their 'Tu es mon hero' poem in class. If this was not completed today make sure it is finished for homework. Students are going to share their poem to the class.

Sciences Humaines: We have started Chapter 2 "Les gens qui ont vecu ici" last day. Students were given a workbook  for this chapter which includes all their notes/questions/assignments/test review/ect. We will leave these workbooks in class but students are responsible for finishing what they could not complete in class. Remember that there is a study hall every Thursday after school if anyone needs extra time to work on any assignment.

Language Arts: Students should be reading their independent novels at home as the first assignment (book report) is due on October 26.

Math: Do pages 49-50 #'s 6,8(a), and 10. Students had about 20 minutes to complete their work.

Science: Test on Chapter 1 on Thursday.

 

Sept. 27 Science: complete #'s 1-5 on p. 26, #'s 1-5 on p. 28 and #5 on p. 33 for tomorrow!
Sept. 24 Science: Students are reminded of test scheduled for Wednesday, October 3.
Sept. 21 Science: Students were given copies of Chapter 1 notes and an attached review sheet for upcoming test.
September 18 Francais: Students are currently working on a writing piece on a significant person (they have a choice from their textbook). Students are submitting their first copy for corrections and then they will submit their good copies for evaluation.
September 17 Francais: Finish the questions on the article 'Vince Coleman: un exemple de bravoure" for homework. Time was given in class to work on these and most people only have the last question (paragraphe- idées principales) left.
September 14 Sciences Humaines: Please bring pictures to class on Wednesday so you can work on your timeline. Students started their rough draft today in class. You need a picture/drawing to accompany each major event.
September 12

Francais: Don't forget to finish your questions on a remarkable person at home if not completed today. We will be sharing our answers tomorrow in class.

Sciences Humaines: We will begin the project 'Ligne de temps' in class tomorrow. Please think about pictures that you may need to finish this. Students are asked to choose 6 events that are significant to their life and make up part of their 'passé individuel`.

September 10

Francais: We are starting the unit 'Des gens remarquables'- Workbooks were distributed in class today. Please ensure that you have these as well as your text book (Module B) with you each class.

Sciences Humaines: Today we began Chapter 1. Please ensure you have your text and an exercise (paper,binder) with you each day. We will begin a mini-assignment (ligne de temps) next day in class.
